Wes' parents are out of town until Sunday (HALLELUJAH!!) and so are the parents of my good friend, Andrea.
Andrea was a senior at DelVal when I was a fresman. We became good friends (through a no-longer-existant third party) and have remained thus even though she spend the school year in Indiana going to Vet School. She returns to good ole Dtown every summer though!
We've been trying to coordinate plans for getting together for quite some time it seems, and finally she was like, "My parents are going out of town for the weekend, you are coming here, we're drinking wine and making dinner!" DONE!
I can not imagine a better way to spend an evening.
I'm a huuuuuuuuge sushi nut (Kyle is my sushi date... Wes is a wuss when it comes to uncooked fish) and get wicked cravings for it every once-in-a-while. I've yet to enjoy sushi and wine together, so I suggested to miss Andrea a sushi and wine night (not that I have anything against making dinner, but I soooo love sushi. And any good reason to splurge on it.). Andrea said that she's tried sushi a couple of times and hasn't disliked it but that she wouldn't know what to buy.
So... we agreed that she'd buy the wine and I'd buy the sushi. I did a search for wine pairings for sushi to pass onto her. She's worried about buying the wine because, again, she's not quite sure what is what and where and when and who... etc. Any really cold white wine will tickle my tastebuds I'm sure. In retrospect, it should be a wine that isn't overpowered by the soy/ginger/wasabi of the sushi. Either way, I found that Gewürztraminer (spicier) and Pinot Blanc (clean and crisp) were recurring suggestions so that's what I sent Andrea's way.
As awful as it sounds, I think I'm gonna stop by Wegmans for the sushi. Wegmans may be a chain grocery store, but their sushi is actually very high quality. And it won't be too eater-specific so it'll be easy to pick stuff out that Andrea and I will both enjoy.
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY sushi and wine night!!!
