Eel Roll - someone had told Andrea that eel sushi was no good. LIES! Eel sushi is actually one of my favorites!! While unassuming, this tastey treat has a sweet, dark glaze that raises it to a new, delicious level. I bought an eel roll for Andrea to try and for me to eat if she did in fact not like it. Don't worry. She did.
Crunchy Shrimp Roll - as I've previously stated, Andrea is still slightly new to the sushi thing. In order to help ease her in a bit, I got this delightful roll because the shrimp is cooked. Hey, I can appreciate good, cooked sushi.
Tuna and Salmon Sashimi - Not cooked. Not in a roll. No rice or any of that nonsense. Just pieces of raw, delicious, delectable fishes. I got this primarily for me. I, of course, tried to bring out Andrea's wild side by offering her a piece. She didn't go for it.
2007 Chateau Ste Michelle Gewurztraminer - For me, "good" wine is wine that I drink and think tastes good. That being said, this was a good, wicked cheap, slightly bubbley, "good" wine.
Turning Leaf Chardonnay - I'm a big fan of Turning Leaf Vineyards, but I honestly think that Chardonnay is not my thing. I haven't had one that I've "liked." Luckily, two things were in my favor with this bottle: 1. I'd already had a lot of Gewurztraminer and 2. someone had already had a glass of it so there was less to drink.
Champagne - I don't think I even looked at the Vineyard that put out this concoction. I thought we'd be in for a treat when we popped this sucker... turns out that it was 'extra dry champagne,' meaning more tart and less sweet. Which is fine, don't get me wrong, but when I think Champagne, I think bubbly, sweet, easy to drink. This particular bottle was not sweet but still decent.
In other words, it was a spectacular night!!! After the sushi and first bottle of wine was gone, we watched Little Miss Sunshine (probably becoming one of my favorite movies). When that movie and the second bottle of wine was gone, we popped the Champagne and watched Knocked Up (I use this movie as birth control). Overall, a most spectacular night with a good friend and lots of wine.
Musikfest with Nate and his family today... *squeal of excitement*!!!!

I;m a vegetarian (and I don't eat fish)and the only type of sushi I've had is a California roll. I didn't like it.
I do looove wine though.
I wish I liked sushi. It's such a trendy thing to like.
Yeah... even as an avid sushi eater, the stuff without the fish is kinda blech. There are quite a few vegetarian rolls available I believe (cucumber rolls are not too bad).
You should give it another try!
Em we should have a sushi party sometime, I wanted some and had some Saturday, but it wasn't too good since I got it at a food court, I feel like there are a lot of good sushi places in the city and I'm the asshole who has to get it from a food court
pft! You don't have to twist my arm!
